Dennis S. McGurer


Dennis has extensive executive leadership, change management and training experience.  He has dedicated a large portion of his career to executive development, executive e coaching and change management designed to aggressively impact revenue and bottom line results.  Among the companies with whom he has worked are Dow Chemical, Holcim, Hollister, National Catholic Society of Foresters, Openfirst, St. Lawrence Cement, Takeda PharmaceuticalsNorth America, and Inc..

He works primarily at senior levels with members of the executive committee, chief executive officers, chief information officers, vice presidents and selected promising executives.  As an executive coach, Dennis has mentored upper level managers to build their confidence, help them focus on prioritized goals, polish their presence and presentation skills, adeptly navigate corporate politics, and transform their staff into high performance teams. His expertise includes developing thought leadership, managing change initiatives, training and development

Dennis was formerly the Managing Director of External Relations for the Council for Adult Education and Learning (CAEL), a national, non-profit organization working to expand adult learning opportunities through its work with colleges, universities, corporations, labor organizations, state and local governments.   Prior to that, he was the Global Director of Recruiting and Education at Ondeo Nalco Company where he led the re-engineering and operation of recruiting, education and development for the organization.  He led the design, development and delivery of platform oil industry technical sales training program that reduced development time for sales staff from 5 years to 18 months.   The initiative was featured in “Selling Power” magazine.  Dennis was also the Corporate Vice President of Education and Development at Moore Corporation, LTD in Canada and held a variety of positions at Eastman Kodak Co.

He is a recognized leader in the technique of rationalizing and maximizing educational resources to significantly impact the bottom line.  During his career, he has effectively networked to build corporate alliances and partnering relationships.   Dennis co-authored, Sales Manager’s Handbook, “Staffing for Sales Training:  American Society for Training and Development and is a Contributor to Running Training Like a Business, van Adelsberg and Trolley. Most recently, he spearheaded the development of an advanced-level learning program designed to help project managers, marketing and sales professionals, as well as cross functional team leaders gain influence and win trust without the use of or need for formal authority.

Dennis served as President of the Professional Society of Sales and Marketing Training.  He was a past member of the Board of Directors and Nominating Committee for the American Society for Training and Development and is a member of the American Management Association and Corporate Leadership Council.

Dennis earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing/Speech from Bowling Green State University.  In addition, he has completed Global Marketing Studies at Thunderbird University; Entrepreneur Studies at the University of Virginia; and Executive Development Programs at Pennsylvania State University and Northwestern University.
